There was an estate auction. Many people attended and the auction was drawing to a close. There was only one thing left to auction. The last item was an old dusty violin. It had sat there throughout the whole auction. The auctioneer said "well I guess we should auction this old violin off too". He started of the bidding at 1 dollar. No one bid on the old violin. The auctioneer said "Let's finish this auction and bid on this old violin". Again he said "who'll give one dollar". No one answered. Then from the rear of the room, an old man made his way up to the front and picked up the old violin. He dusted it off and tuned the strings. He picked up the bow and put it to the violin. The violin came to life and the old man played music that swept through the auction house. The music was so profoundly beautiful that it could be felt throughout the hall. When the old man finished, he laid the old violin on the table and returned to his seat. The auctioneer then said "what will you bid for this old violin?" "who'll give me one thousand dollar?" A man from the crowd ask "What made the difference?" The auctioneer said "The touch of the Master's hand." Isn't that what makes the difference in our lives? Before we met the master were we not like the old violin? We all need the touch of the Master's Hand. |
